Welcome to my little corner of the literary world. I'm Anika, a Poetry & General writer with a passion for cultivating storytelling visuals, words & overall content. Crafting stories & realities that captivate the inner most vulnerable, authentic & relatable parts of what makes up who you are & what resonates with the human experience.

 

A JOURNEY INTO THE WRITTEN WORD:

My journey as a writer began about 13-14 (2013-2014) years ago when I first put pen to paper, and since then, it has been an exhilarating yet petrifying ride. Born and raised in Saint Martin, an island in the Caribbean, I draw inspiration from the hidden & unspoken truths of my childhood & overall experiences that surrounded me during my growing years, which is still in full effect.

INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATION:

I would be lying if I said I was inspired by any Author/Writer. While I am not inspired by any Authors, someone who inspires me is

Nicki Minaj. Her artistry, business-savviness and confidence in all that she does, inspires me so much. Aside from that, some other things that influences or inspires me to write are nature, music, traveling and day-to-day happenings. They give me material to mend words into writings, musings and poetry. I became a writer based on my own life experiences as well as the urge to share my story and to let people know that I understand & empathize with them.

STYLE AND SUBSTANCE:

My writing style can be described as Soulful, Relatable & Deep. I believe in the freedom to express one’s self through the artistic medium in which we desire. I believe in utilizing one’s birth-given gifts & acquired passions to make the world a much more meaningful and sustainable place; and these ethoses permeates every word I put on pages. Whether it's storytelling through visuals or words or a journey through any piece of work I plan to release, I aim to provide my readers with an experience that lingers long after the last page is turned.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

When not lost in the realms of my imagination (which rarely happens), you might find me traveling, watching series and movies, doing my makeup, discovering new bars and restaurants, going to the beach, listening to music, working on other endeavors or playing Sims. I've always believed that a well-rounded life contributes to richer storytelling and these experiences find their way into my work in unexpected ways. For example, a poem I wrote entitled “Strange Fruit” was inspired by Billie Holiday’s masterpiece, “Strange Fruit”. It is one of my deepest poems.

WORKS:

My very first published work as an Independent Author, is Jupiter Love and many more are in the works. Each project is a labor of love, and I'm immensely proud of the stories that have found their way from my mind to printed pages. Stay tuned for upcoming projects!
